Experience Edinburgh’s original award-winning Farmers’ Market – the only Scottish market accredited by FARMA.

The Edinburgh Farmers’ Market takes place on Castle Terrace under the spectacular backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. Listed by Lloyd Grossman as one of the World’s Best Farmers’ Markets and now in it’s 17th year, there are a huge variety of fresh local produce from over 40 specialist producers. The majority of stallholders grow or rear what they sell. You can expect to find specialities such as venison and water buffalo as well as organic beef, chicken, lamb and pork. Other types of produce include fish (lobster in season), free-range eggs, cheese, seasonal fruit & vegetables, honey, chillies and plants. In addition, you’ll find producers who bake and prepare their own farm products. Guest producers provide specialities including organic beer, liqueurs, bread, chocolates and chutney. You’ll find a selection of hot food and fresh coffee. On the first Saturday of every month, Slow Food Edinburgh run a Slow Food stall at the market to promote the ‘Good, Clean and Fair’ message. Often, they’ll be joined by a local chef and will cook up something simple and delicious, showcasing ingredients from the market. We’ve recently welcomed chefs from The Wild, The Pantry and The Stockbridge Restaurant, as well as the Gilmerton, Gracemount and Moredun Grow Stronger community project.

The market takes place on Castle Terrace every Saturday between 9am & 2pm, under the imposing backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
